 On Sunday February 7 I will fly to Point Hope, a small Inupiatvillage on the western coast of North Slope, Alaska. I will be above the arctic circle. I have never been in Alaska and so far north before. I still cannot image how I will feel breathing the dry icy arctic air and have about two hours of daylight. I would like to see those animals that I have always heard of like polar bears, walruses, arctic foxes, caribou and bowhead whales but my reason to go the North Slope is not to watch wildlife so who knows whether I will end up see some of these animals or not. Domenica 7 febbraio volero' a Point Hope, un villaggio Inupiat sulla costa occidentale della regione dell'Alaska chiamata North Slope sopra al circolo polare artico. Non sono mai stata in Alaska e cosi' a nord. Non riesco ancora ad immaginarmi che sensazione avro' quando respirero' l'aria secca e ghiacciata artica e ed essere esposta a solo due ore di luce al giorno. Mi piacerebbe vedere gli animali di cui ho sempre sentito parlare: gli orsi polari, i trichechi, le volpi artiche, i caribou e le balene artiche ma lo scopo della mia visita nella North Slope non e' quello di osservare gli animali, per cui chissa' se riusciro' a vederno uno. |
